Timmy-Tube is a light-weight, easy to deploy general video streaming system. Requirements (Server side)
- Runs on almost every platform. Supported are Windows (xp,vista,7), Linux and MacOS.
- Fare-machine (dual-Atom at 1.8GHz will do fine) to host the Web Server and VLC.
- Any Web Server (e.g. apache) and PHP 5.x attached to the web Server.
- VLC v1.1.11 or higher.
- Local area network (LAN) infrastructure. Server and DreamBox needs to be in same IP space.
- Network / local share where the media is. Supported types are .ts (dreambox recordings), avi (divx,mp4), .iso (dvd-video format).

- Timmy-Tube is an independent system; it does not require having DreamBox.
- Timmy-Tube is a light-weight, easy to deploy video-streaming system, similar to Timmy-TV system.
- Timmy-Tube is Single User, multiple Viewer Video-Streaming system: One to decide the actions, several others just to consume the selected Video Stream (player launchers).
- Timmy-Tube's UI is designed to be light and simple and targeted for Mobile touch Devices. UI width is 640px as default (can be changed easily).
- Beneath Timmy-Tube uses VLC v1.2x to transcode the video into H264 along with AAC audio delivered either via rtsp or http protocol to user's device.
- Timmy-Tube can use .ts and .avi video formats as input. DVD .iso file support is now question (partial support).
- Practically Timmy-Tube can handle almost any video as input..
- Videos can be played either in Browser with Adobe Flash Player or in device's native video Player, capable to use rtsp delivery protocol. Supported clients are Nokia Symbian ^3, Nokia N9, all browser's with Flash Player and all Android devices.
- iPhone & iPad are unfortunately unsupported: no flash or rtsp.
- User can very easily give several independent places where videos are located at, either \\server\ or local place.
- Timmy-Tube has options to set subtitle and audio to desired language.
- User can select bandwidth (128kbit/sec - 2Mbit/sec) as best to fit the purpose / environment.
- User can "rewind/fast forward" selected video to wanted position. Touch screen able.
- User can simply create bookmark on the browser from playing video, all selected & needed data are in the bookmark to resume from.
- DreamBox's .ts recording has also clip's description displayed.
- User can set IMDB overview-query on every Videoplace: selected movie's description is asked from IMDB and link to it is presented on the page..
